Sarushima Island

Uninhabited island, Sarushima Island, of about 1.6km in circumference, and floats on the offing of Yokosuka city, about one hour by train from Tokyo.
Ruins of the fortress of the Meiji era, which remain on the island, are said to look like ruins in the animated cartoon 'LAPUTA: Castle in the Sky' by Studio Ghibli, and so became a popular sightseeing spot that a lot of people have visited recently.
